The Dreamer by E.J. Mellow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When the cover and synopsis of The Dreamer where announced on my blog, I was brimming with excitement at the prospect of reading it. I couldn't wait to have it in my hands (release date is May 15th, you can buy it here)! This book has probably counted toward my most anticipated reads this year and it has fully lived up to my
 expectations!

The Dreamer is a New Adult story with a contemporary fantasy/paranormal twist. It really is a mixture of all my favorite genres and as such, it brings their best aspects to light. It's written in first person, modern day time.

Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack #1) by Suzanne Wright

Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars (4.5 stars)

As much as I love the YA scene, I sometimes have to step away from the angst to find a book in which I don't come across fade to black and consequently get left to the devices of my own (slightly inappropriate) imagination.

When I saw some of my fellow bloggers raving about Feral Sins, no other encouragement was needed for me to pick it up.

Feral Sins start with Taryn who is a latent shifter and daughter to an Alpha packleader with influential circles. It goes to say that she and 'father dearest' do not get along and circumstances have her trapped into an arranged mating, thereby securing her father with another alliance. Unfortunately her intended mate is a total jerkoff and she is desperate for a way out, one way or another.

~ Review & Give Away ~ Autumn in the City of Angels (The Autumn Series, #1) by Kirby Howell

Autumn in the City of Angels by Kirby Howell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Autumn and the City of Angels is a YA Romance with a dystopian/scifi flavor. It can be compared to works such as The 5th Wave and Collide and I find this a very enjoyable twist on the 'Paranormal Romance' scene, which is slowly taking a backseat and making more room for this kind of work.

The series follows Autumn who's life is thrown upside down when the Crimson fever strikes and takes with it all of her family and friends. Autumn is left with an empty apartment and no direction and ultimately faces the decision to leave her shelter and walk into a world more dangerous then ever. Her first trip does not go well and she eventually gets aid from a guy whom she cannot see. He makes her a promise, he will rescue and take her with him when it is safe to do so. On her second trip for resources after her elicit rescue, she runs into Evie and her brother Ben and they decide to stick together.

~ He chuckled quietly. "I Didn't claim to have extra-sensory gifts. Based on what I can hear and feel, I can fill in what I can't see." "Do you want to know what I sense?" " Dare I ask?" I smiled, even though I knew he couldn't see it.

The Curse Servant (The Dark Choir #2) by J.P. Sloan

The Curse Servant by J.P. Sloan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was lucky enough to pick up The Curse Servant through Netgalley just after I finished The Curse Merchant, which I found was a very entertaining book with some great dark humor. My review of the first book can be found here.

The sequel picks up approximately a couple of months after the previous book ended, or so it seems.

Dorian Lake has picked up his pieces and is finally getting into the groove of his new life. He is of course still in the middle of seeking a way to retrieve his lost soul too.

~ "A man once told me if I make the desires of the flesh my focus, then I'll succumb to them. I'm trying to focus on the things that are a little more permanent."

The Curse Merchant (The Dark Choir #1) by J.P. Sloan

The Curse Merchant by J.P. Sloan
My rating:

The Curse Merchant follows Dorian Lake, a 35 year old man with an unusual occupation. He creates hexes and charms for a living, preferably wielded through Karma.

After a particular scare, he finds himself shaken out of his rut and decides to seek out old friends and pick up his life again. Then his ex Carmen comes to him for help of the Paranomal kind.

She has managed to sell her soul and Dorian may be her only hope of getting it back. Not only that, but she sold it to a practitioner who is currently also trying to take over Dorian's territory of business and already has him in his bad books.
